New sTRAIL assay in saliva and sputum

A new biomarker assay has been published from the Analytical Chemistry group of Prof. Rainer Bischoff, University of Groningen, one of the members of the BiomarkerBay network.

RUGSoluble Tumor necrosis factor-Related Apoptosis-inducing Ligand (sTRAIL) may be a biomarker in the pathogenesis of a broad range of diseases with a strong inflammatory and/or autoimmune component. Thanks to the high sensitivity, the antibody-free LC–MS/MS method presented is suitable to support biomarker studies in saliva and induced sputum. The assay has been added to the BiomarkerBay database, in addition to the assay for sTRAIL in serum.

The new assay, which was developed in the group of Prof. Rainer Bischoff, Analytical Chemistry, is described in: Quantitative antibody-free LC-MS/MS analysis of sTRAIL in sputum and saliva at the sub-ng/mL level (Wilfert et al., J. Chromatogr B, 2016)Here is the full publication
